Frames for shamanic drum: 'special wood'

Frames for shamanic drum, also called hoops, frames or rings, are made of sanded wood and can be supplied in many different diameters, from 30 cm to 70 cm in diameter.

The frames are all neatly finished and can be used straight away. Although we do recommend a light manual sanding round. And when you then massage the ring with oil you get to know the frame and your drum. The oil brings out the beautiful colour of the wood and really reveals the specific characteristics of the wood type. Any vegetable oil is good to use for oiling the ring. Our preference is almond oil as it is also used for baby massages. A lovely soft oil that gives the ring extra love. It also nourishes the frame and extends its lifespan.

The special wood frames are exceptional in colour and sound. The Maple is almost white in colour. While the Rosewood is brown with all shades of chocolate in it, no two Rosewood frames are the same. The Red Oak has a subtle dot pattern, visible especially on the inside of the drum frame. And the Mulberry is warm yellow. The latest addition are the Neem wood frames, you may know the Indian tree from Neem oil. The wood grain is clearly visible and the colour is a warm orange/yellow/light brown. We also have Walnut wood, which has a greyish hue to it. Beech has a lighter and more even dot pattern than Red Oak.

Resound

Rosewood and Mulberry are extremely hard, making a sound resonate many times stronger than normal frames. Neem, Walnut, Beech and Red Oak are in between these woods in terms of hardness and are comparable in weight to Ash rings. On the contrary, Maple is as soft as Willow but much lighter in weight than the other three special woods. The sound of Maple is also fantastic. Although the difference will only be heard by the connoisseur because every drum has his/her own sound. Every drum is unique and has its own sound.
