A hide with hair gives your shamanic drum a warm, full sound, in which the fundamental tone clearly emerges. The hair dampens the overtones and softens the sound of the beater's impact. Want to adjust the sound? You can partially trim or shave the hair. The thickness of the hide also plays a role: thicker hides generally produce a heavier, lower sound. You can indicate your preference for thickness in the comments during ordering. To help you choose, we have created a handy PDF with our scale for animal hide thickness on a shamanic drum.

We have drum hides and skins with diameters from 35 to 100 centimetres in stock, fitting drum frames of 25 to 90 centimetres. Allow at least 10 centimetres more than the frame to stretch the skin properly.

The spirit of the animal receives a new life with the creation of the drum and can do much good in its new form.
