Hairless drum skins (various animal species) are perfect for stretching your own shamanic drum. And not just a shamanic drum! The drum skins are also perfectly suited for djembés, bodhrans, tifas and timpani and any other drum with an animal skin stretched over it.

We have a wide variety of animal hides and skins in stock for building your own spiritual drum. Which will you choose for your healing drum? Worldwide, most drums are made from goat skin, which is also why we stock so many different goat skins.

Our hairless drum skins (also known as rawhide or parchment) are prepared clean and smooth. The hair roots have been removed.

Hairless drum hides

Once stretched onto a drum frame, thin rawhide drum skins often produce a high, full sound with many overtones. Thicker hides produce a heavier and lower sound with undertones. You can indicate your preference for the hide thickness during checkout. We have created a handy PDF with the scale for animal hide thickness on a shamanic drum.

At Sjamaan.nl, you can also buy a smooth drum skin for djembes and timpani. To make or repair a djembe, we recommend hairless goat skins. We know exactly which thickness is perfect for a djembe. Transparent goat skins are suitable for timpani. These hairless drum skins are thin and produce a beautiful timpani sound when stretched.

You can optionally paint the hairless shamanic drum yourself with acrylic paint or draw on it with a permanent marker.

We have hairless drum skins (various animal species) with diameters from 35 to 100 centimetres in stock, fitting drum frames of 25 to 90 centimetres. Allow at least 10 centimetres more than the frame to stretch the skin properly.
